This is a job announcement for Security Division Internal Organizer in Oakland, California.

Personal initiative, independent judgment, accountability, planning, organizational skills, written and communication skills are required. 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and develop rank & file Union activists
  • File grievances and prepare cases for Arbitration
  • Perform regular worksite visits and conduct worksite meetings
  • Organize actions and demonstrations
  • Facilitate membership meetings and trainings
  • Lead mobilization and turnout for actions and employer delegations
  • Maintain accurate worksite (building and workers) information
  • Correspond and communicate with employer Labor Relations representatives
  • Conduct effective house visits and one on one communication
  • Create weekly and monthly work plans  

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to social justice
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and implement work and manage time, as part of a team and individually
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours
  • Experience and knowledge of computer programs is a plus (including word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet and database software)
  • Driver’s license and reliable car.
