Labor Relations Specialist

The Engineering Association (EA) is an International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) affiliated labor organization, operated and governed by employees of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), who are elected by their peers. Our main purpose is to negotiate with TVA management regarding our compensation, benefits and working conditions.

We are seeking a Labor Relations Specialist to represent our members throughout the TVA service area. The Engineering Association represents over 2600 employee positions across the TVA service area consisting of mostly technicians, scientists and engineers. The position reports to the EA Valley-Wide President and will be located in the Knoxville, Tennessee EA office.

Job duties:

  • Contract negotiations and language
  • Compensation research and negotiation
  • Represent members in grievance hearings and proceedings
  • Develop and present arbitration cases
  • Advises members, Valley-wide officers, Executive Committee and other EA staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Required to travel in carrying out the business of the Engineering Association primarily within the TVA 7-state service region.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree with an emphasis on labor relations and/or human relations or equivalent.
  • 1 or more years of demonstrable experience in a labor relations/collective bargaining environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills required.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
