Airports External Lead Organizer
Based in Los Angeles, CA
Join California’s Largest Airport Worker Organizing Campaign
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is our country’s fastest growing labor union with more than 2 million members. Our members are on the cutting edge of improving lives of low-wage service workers and taking on the larger issues from healthcare to racial and economic justice.
United Service Workers West (USWW) has 40,000 property service workers from San Diego to Sacramento. Our union unites janitors, security officers, airport, residential, stadium and arena workers. These workers are the heart of our union and, through activism, the hope for tomorrow.
SEIU USWW has an External Lead Organizer position available immediately, based in Los Angeles.
Over 3,000 LAX workers providing skycap, wheelchair and, security, janitorial, ramp, baggage and cargo services through airline contractors have joined USWW, and continue in the fight for all LAX workers to win $15 and a union. LAX workers set the stage for SEIU’s national Airport Workers United campaign, where tens of thousands of airport workers are organizing across the country.
Working under the supervision of the Airports Coordinator, the Airports External Lead will work with staff and worker leaders to organize non-union LAX workers to take on multi-billion dollar airlines in the nation’s 3rd largest airport and continue the fight for $15 and a union at LAX.
