United Service Workers West (USWW) has 40,000 property service workers from San Diego to Sacramento. Our union unites janitors, security officers, airport, residential, stadium and arena workers. These workers are the heart of our union and, through activism, the hope for tomorrow.

SEIU USWW has an Internal Lead Organizer position available immediately, based in Los Angeles.

Job Description
Over 3,000 LAX workers providing skycap, wheelchair and, security, janitorial, ramp, baggage and cargo services through airline contractors have joined USWW, and continue in the fight for all LAX workers to win $15 and a union. LAX workers set the stage for SEIU’s national Airport Workers United campaign, where tens of thousands of airport workers are organizing across the country.

Working under the supervision of the Airports Coordinator, the Airports Lead Organizer will work with staff and member leaders to build worksite power, develop committees for bargaining, internal issue fights, and external campaigns in partnership with a team of internal and external organizers.


  • Strong commitment to social justice and improving the lives of working people.
  • Ability to understand complex industries and imagine strategies to transform them,
  • Experience leading teams of workers and staff through variety of field campaigns.
  • Experience representing private sector workers with large and small employers.
  • Ability and flexibility to manage long and irregular hours.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to speak Spanish, Arabic or Tagalog a plus.
  • Must have car and insurance. Car allowance with proof of license, registration and insurance.
