Overview:
University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE-CWA 9119) is searching for a talented, hard working Data Organizer for a 1 year contract. The successful candidate for this position will be values-driven, self-motivated and resourceful, with the skills, experience, and enthusiasm to work alongside our data team to help support our Union’s work throughout California.
UPTE-CWA represents more than 23,000 employees working in healthcare, research and technical jobs at the University of California, Lawrence Berkeley Lab, as well as adjunct faculty at Butte Community College, College of Sequoias and Mount San Jacinto Community College. We represent a diverse workforce all over California and are working to build member power and aggressively represent our members and advocate for the rights of working people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain data systems, tracking tools, imports, and automated workflows
- Clean, organize, and reconcile data from multiple sources
- Analyze and synthesize data to support internal reporting and decision-making
- Support research related to workers, working conditions, and employment policies
- Assist in developing and documenting data protocols and standards that support efficient workflows
- Collaborate closely with the Lead Data Organizer and other staff on assigned data projects
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills and knowledge required:
- Advanced usage of Google Sheets or Excel, including writing complex formulas
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Ability to manage assigned tasks independently and work as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to work with both field and data organizing staff
- Commitment to the labor movement and social justice
- Fluency or familiarity with SQL
- Experience working with computer languages to manage and manipulate data
- Experience supporting automated workflows, integrations, or form-based data collection
- Experience with academia, particularly within the University of California system

Compensation includes a competitive salary and benefits package. The salary range for this position is $80,750.63 – $108,534.20.
