About the Organization
The California Domestic Workers Coalition (CDWC), a fiscally-sponsored project of Center for Empowered Politics Education Fund, is a coalition of grassroots domestic worker organizations and their supporters from the labor, faith, domestic employer, women and other grassroots communities, who are working to advance the rights of domestic workers. In California, there are approximately 300,000 domestic workers. We have come together as a statewide network to build the leadership and political power of domestic workers and to ensure that statewide laws and agencies protect domestic workers. Finally, we work to inspire all Californians to uphold the dignity of domestic workers inside and outside of our homes.
Position Overview
The Logistics and Operations Coordinator reports directly to the Deputy Director of Organizational Development and works in close collaboration with the staff team and Coalition organizers to lead the coordination of logistics for coalition meetings, programs, campaigns and policy implementation, as well as provide administrative support for Coalition logistics and operations-related matters. The Logistics and Operations Coordinator is key in making the Coalition’s work possible, creating a welcoming space and ensuring access for domestic worker leaders to practice their leadership, take action and build people power.
Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. - Responsibility #1 Logistics: In coordination with CDWC staff and affiliate organizations, ensure smooth implementation of all aspects of logistics for coalition meetings, mobilizations, trainings and other activities.
- Lead the coordination of logistics for event planning with staff project teams, including scheduling, confirmation of attendance, inquiring about access needs, calendar invitations with meeting details, reminders, logistics advisories, and sending out agendas and follow-up materials.
- Work with businesses, vendors and consultants for services, rentals and purchases, including and not limited to confirming venues, equipment, interpretation, childcare, food, travel arrangements and lodging.
- Coordinate support from staff and volunteers as it relates to logistics implementation, including coordinating with language interpreters from our pool of professional translators and interpreters.
- Ensure that spending for logistics coordination is tracked and stays within respective activity budgets.
- Travel regularly to other areas of the state for in-person events, including Southern California (about 4 times per year) and Sacramento (could be up to 10 times during a campaign season of March to September). Bay Area events may be monthly on average. Events may require longer hours, evenings, and/or weekend work.
- Responsibility #2 Operations: In coordination with the Deputy Director of Organizational Development, provide support to the staff team to ensure they have what they need to do their jobs.
- Manage CDWC offices (Resilient Strategies space in Oakland and office in the Women’s Building in SF), external storage space, equipment, materials and supplies, including ensuring that storage is secure and equipment is well maintained.
- In coordination with the Deputy Director of Organizational Development, update and implement guidelines in relation to internal staff administrative and operational processes and procedures, including guidelines for using the office spaces and storage space, borrowing equipment, and requesting administrative, logistics, or operational support.
- With support from the Administrative Associate, make necessary purchases and coordinate distribution of coalition materials, including office and meeting equipment and supplies, care and thank you packages, campaign art and materials, Know Your Rights materials, etc.
- With as needed support from the Administrative Associate, communicate with vendors, consultants, staff and Coalition members to submit and process invoices, reimbursement requests and supporting documents including W-9s, receipts, etc. for timely payment processing.
- Participate in digital security compliance as required from Resilient Strategies.
- Provide consecutive or simultaneous English-Spanish language interpretation if needed.
- Responsibility #3 Collective Staff Team Responsibilities
- Provide staffing support for Coalition meetings, mobilizations and other activities, including and not limited to: providing language interpretation for smaller groups, translating documents, tech support, note-taking, and timekeeping
- Facilitate some agenda items, relationship-building activities and break out groups
- Take on day-of activity roles that may or may not reflect primary areas of work
- Build relationships with Coalition members
- Participate in all meetings including bi-weekly all staff meetings and bi-weekly Steering Committee prep calls and meetings. Participation may include creating agendas, facilitating, tech support, note-taking, and timekeeping
Required Qualifications:
- 2-3 years experience and skills in organizational operations and logistics work—including office operations, communications systems, project management, and event planning.
- Experience working with and understanding the issues facing low-wage workers and immigrant communities in California as well as a demonstrated commitment to the leadership of immigrant working women, women of color, economic and social justice, and racial and gender equity.
- Bilingual; ability to communicate clearly (both written and oral) in English and Spanish.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage time independently.
- Strong coordination and project management skills.
- Detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Responsive to needs and requests with a learning and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ability to hold multiple areas of responsibility simultaneously with grace, ease and confidence.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in the use of Google workspace and Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- This position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and requires travel for meetings, events, and mobilizations. Ability to drive a car is required. Ability to lift up to 48 pounds and willingness to engage in some physical labor related to event coordination is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience coordinating logistics and operational work in a hybrid remote work environment with statewide and local activities.
- Experience aligning operations and logistics (including vendor selection) with organizational values, including language and disability justice.
- Willingness to use one’s own personal vehicle for work purposes
Work Environment / Physical Demands
This is a hybrid remote position based in the San Francisco Bay Area with regular visits to both CDWC office locations in Oakland and SF (approx 1-2 visits to the offices per month, more frequently in preparation for events). Able to work on a computer including sitting at a desk for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation; manual dexterity to operate a keyboard; able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others; able to hear and understand speech, including on the phone; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; Must be able to stretch, bend, kneel, twist, squat, reach above or below the shoulder, push, grasp, and lift up to 48 pounds. Able to walk, drive, write, stand, and sit.

Employment Terms
This is a full time position. This position is 40 hours per week. This position has an estimated salary range of $32.70 – $37.50 per hour (estimated at $68,000 – 78,000 annually) depending on experience. This position is non-exempt. Non-exempt employees are generally eligible for overtime pay for all hours worked beyond 8 in a single workday and/or 40 hours in a single workweek.
This is also a union position, with terms and conditions set forth in a Collective Bargaining Agreement, which is in the process of being negotiated.
