DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
32BJ SEIU is looking for an Industry Research Analyst who could have experience in a variety of disciplines: planning, journalism, economics, policy, union organizing or racial and economic justice campaigns. We are especially looking for candidates who reflect our diverse membership.
The Industry Research Analyst will support our industry organizing campaigns, as well as our work maintaining our strength within our industries. The analyst will work in collaboration with our union leaders, industry workers, communications, and political organizers.
- Conduct research on corporate and industry levels, utilizing a wide variety of primary and secondary sources, to formulate corporate and legislative strategies.
- Transform research findings to create weekly and quarterly work plans that advance campaign and industry goals.
- Write documents for different audiences including - technical in-depth white papers, talking points, testimony, and information for workers.
- Serve as union-expert for questions related to the real estate industry, worker issues, regulations, procurement processes and service companies.
- Lead or collaborate in field research efforts such as designing surveys, interviews with low-wage workers, drafting regulatory or legal complaints.
- Works closely with the legal staff to ensure compliance for campaign pieces.
- Develop relationships with subject-matter technical experts and community partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of work experience, performing quantitative or qualitative research.
- The ability to formulate and execute strategic plans to achieve organizational goals.
- Exceptional writing skills and the ability to communicate persuasively with diverse stakeholders.
- The ability to work well under tight deadlines and in a team environment.
- Strong commitment to racial justice and a strong labor movement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This full-time position is based in our Newark, NJ and New York, NY offices. This position occasionally requires working beyond standard business hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Participation in marches and demonstrations is expected on occasion.
COMNPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary for this role is $72,014 or $79,673, depending on background and experience level. 32BJ provides a generous benefits package that includes a fully employer-paid medical, dental and vision plan, for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. We offer retirement benefits, including both a defined benefit pension plan and 401K. The Union currently offers a remote work policy of one remote day per week at the discretion of the manager.
