ROLE:
The Assistant to the President works closely, with the Local’s President and leadership team, often privy to sensitive and strategic information. This role requires the highest level of professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential matters with integrity. The assistant is a trusted partner, who supports the President by managing logistics, streamlining operations, and handling a wide range of administrative responsibilities. The role also requires adaptability and thrives in a dynamic, fast-changing environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and brings a “can-do” attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
DUTIES:
- Maintains the President’s schedule and calendar of events
- Maintains strict confidentiality. Handles sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
- Facilitates communication between the Local President, staff, and members
- Organizes and prioritizes incoming calls, correspondence, and messages
- Coordinates set-up and invitations for executive board meetings
- Takes and maintains detailed meeting notes when asked
- Builds a working knowledge of the Local union and its procedures
- Maintains discretion with all privileged and confidential information
- Performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks as required
- Books travel and makes logistical arrangements
- Travel with the President as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent. College experience or degree is a big plus
- Administrative experience preferred.
- Must have basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)
- Ability and willingness to work long and irregular hours on occasion including infrequent weekends
- Personal commitment to the mission and goals of SEIU Local 73.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel (preferred)
- Bi-lingual English/ Spanish a plus, but not required
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 annually
- Time Off: Paid holidays and vacation
- Health: Fully paid health insurance benefits
