Communications Representative

Position: Communications Representative
Salary Range: $22.88 – $32.69 per hour plus Union paid benefits

UFCW 367 Represents approximately 8,000 members in Pierce, Mason, Thurston, Grays Harbor, Lewis, and Pacific counties.

Position Overview:
The ideal Communications candidate plays a key role in shaping and delivering compelling content across print, digital, and social media platforms in partnership with other Union staff under the direction of the Digital Organizing Coordinator. This position is responsible for designing high-quality visual materials, producing engaging content, and ensuring timely delivery of communications that support organizational goals, campaigns, and member engagement. 

Primary Responsibilities:
Creative Design & Production

  • Create professional, publication-ready materials including newsletters, flyers, brochures, fact sheets, announcements, campaign training and educational resources.
  • Create digital and print-ready graphics using Canva, Microsoft, other design tools.
  • Design artwork for union swag, branded apparel, banners, and digital assets for social media and web.

Field Content & Campaigns

  • Collaborate with field teams to identify, interview, and share member stories across social media and print platforms.

Photography, Video & Multimedia

  • Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos at events, tailoring content for internal and external audiences in collaboration with the Digital Organizing Coordinator.
  • Produce creative and engaging videos from concept to final product, utilizing knowledge of lighting, audio, interviewing, and editing software.
  • Stay current with digital media trends, tools, and technologies to enhance impact and engagement.
  • Maintain and organize an extensive digital media library.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with staff to deliver materials under tight deadlines with accuracy and creativity.
  • Communicate clearly and incorporate feedback to produce engaging, polished final products.
  • Provide occasional media relations support as needed.
  • Serve as backup for office reception duties, including answering phones and directing inquiries.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong design and layout skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in various design tools such as Canva, PowerPoint, Adobe.
  • Experience with email marketing, SMS campaigns, and survey platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Strong storytelling skills with photography, video, and multimedia content creation.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across departments.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends. 
  • Knowledge and experience in social media trends, advertising strategies, and analytics. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

There is substantial overlap between the duties of this position and communications work performed by other union staff. When practicable, the Communications and other union staff shall coordinate their communications work through the Digital Organizing Coordinator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is a full-time position Monday-Friday 8-5 but occasionally requires flexible working hours, including some nights and weekends.

This position may require occasional travel to worksites in the counties of UFCW 367’s Jurisdiction. A valid driver’s license and car with insurance will be required.
