The in-office Data Systems Manager of the Chicago and Midwest Regional Joint Board, Workers United is responsible for the maintenance of various Union databases. This position will provide staff support and consistent and accurate analysis through reporting. These reports will support the Union’s member and non-member engagement goals and be used by leaders, representation, organizing, and political campaign staff.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of unions, familiarity with Workers United, and a strong commitment to social justice. Advanced data experience is required, where high attention to detail, accuracy, and computer literacy are essential

RESPONSABILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining the overall integrity and quality of the membership databases (WinMill and Broadstripes), including regular data improvement and hygiene, establishing business rules, maintaining documentation of data and reporting protocols, assisting in developing and implementing best practices, and report customization and analysis.
  • Providing data integration assistance as it applies to the Union’s posting of member dues, administering of member benefits, and other functions of the Union’s Finance Department.
  • Communicating with Business Agents to collect up-to-date member rosters, employer & contract information, and reports of organization for each local.
  • Promote a culture of data literacy, by providing training to staff on data tools and processes.
  • Tracking, reporting, and analyzing member data.
  • Providing campaign-related data management and analysis during campaigns.
  • Continually search and implement union process improvements.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff and troubleshoot database-related problems.
  • Advise the Comptroller on database issues & possible solutions; working with external database support to advocate for fixes/patches to the database programs when appropriate.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging data technologies.
  • Create, extract, summarize, and compile data for required external reporting. Work
  • with staff and teams to satisfy reporting requirements.
  • Establish and enforce standards for data quality, consistency and security.
  • Lead efforts in data collection, validation and lifecycle management.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the organization.

REQUIRED

  • 5+ years in data management or computer sciences field.
  • Master’s degree in education or computer science.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including strong Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with Winmill and Broadstripes.
  • Commitment to social justice for all workers, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, race, disability or religion.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salary is $85,000 annually.
