Program Manager

Based in Washington, DC

Georgetown University’s Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor (KI) develops creative strategies and innovative public policy to improve workers’ lives in a changing economy. The Initiative draws on Georgetown’s distinctive identity—its commitment to intellectual excellence, grounding in the Catholic and Jesuit traditions, history of inter-religious cooperation, global reach, and prominence as an arena of policy debate in the nation’s capital - to advance prosperity, broadly-shared economic justice, and respect for the dignity of labor.

The Program Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the Policy Director and the Research Director in duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Creates, drives, and grows the KI’s internship programs for students, overseeing and mentoring student interns.
  • Helps plan and coordinates events; acts as a liaison with external community partners; and provides support to other KI projects internal and external to the university. 
  • Builds relations with student groups at Georgetown and other campuses.
  • Represents and serves as the KI representative to other Georgetown entities, particularly those that share the KI mission, including the Center for Social Justice, Research, Teaching and Service, the Ignatian Solidarity Network.
  • Acts as a liaison to community organizations, including labor unions, non-Georgetown student organizations, and social justice organizations.
  • Develops a plan to expand the KI’s programing as it relates to students and the other concerns central to the Program Coordinator’s job.
  • Provides logistical and programmatic support to KI events and conferences.
  • Performs outreach to campus workers.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Strong project management and follow through skills
  • Proven commitment to workers' rights, including experience studying and working on issues related to work or labor concerns
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse set of students and allies both within and outside of the university
