The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union, AFL-CIO, is a proud trade association whose beginnings go back to the 1890s. We currently represent 120,000 members in North America and we are offering an excellent opportunity to support the cause of this great labor union. This full-time administrative position is located at the headquarters office at 1750 New York Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20006.

Summary of Job Duties:

  • Use Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook daily.
  • Create slides for presentations with PowerPoint.
  • Work with Salesforce program.
  • Perform administrative tasks in a membership database, (e.g. entering new members, transfers, job classification changes, etc.)
  • Assist end-users with using the membership database system, (e.g. access problems, enter data, make changes).
  • Maintain files and records; scan and save to cloud.
  • Compose correspondence, such as letters, memos, and emails, with little guidance or supervision.
  • Various projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of member service experience with a member organization, such as a union, trade association, etc.
  • Must be extremely reliable and prompt; hours are 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Mon-Fri.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must have experience using Salesforce or a similar program, member database, etc.
  • Must be generally highly computer literate.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must possess solid foundation of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Professional telephone etiquette and excellent member service attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • High school diploma.
