NMFL Overview
NMFL is affiliated with the AFL-CIO. We are an umbrella organization of public and private sector unions in New Mexico. NMFL coordinates and supports the union affiliates within NMFL. NMFL is governed by an elected member governing body that meets multiple times a year, including an annual state convention.

Overview of responsibilities:
NMFL seeks to hire an Administration & Communications Coordinator to handle the daily activities of the NMFL. Under the direction of the NMFL President and NMFL Secretary-Treasurer, the Administration & Communications Coordinator will implement and assist with building power for workers in New Mexico.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete daily and general office tasks.
  • Assist Secretary-Treasurer with financial documents and Human Resources.
  • Prepare for Executive Council meetings, conventions, trainings and workshops.
  • Compose political, Legislative, legal, and corporate reports.
  • Develop information and utilize media (including social media) for the information, actions and communication.
  • May be assigned by President and/or Secretary-Treasurer to perform any other tasks relative to the goal/mission of NMFL.

Experience, Skills, Aptitude and Commitment

  • Experience in unions.
  • Experience in organizing, recruiting or mobilizing people to achieve a goal is preferred.
  • Experience in representing workers is preferred.
  • Track record of working professionally, in a team and independently.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal competency in English (Spanish is also preferred).
  • Proficiency in widely used computer programs and technology a must.
  • College education preferred.
  • Willing and able to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Own a good working vehicle and have insurance on the vehicle as you may be required to attend events outside the office.
