Clean Energy, Healthy Michigan is a citizens ballot campaign to protect Michigan’s air and water by increasing the amount of our energy that comes from renewable sources like solar and wind to 30 percent by the year 2030. Passing this measure will reduce pollution, protect our health, lower energy bills, and create good jobs right here in Michigan.

Job Description
The goal for the position of Press Secretary is to implement an earned media strategy Clean Energy, Healthy Michigan.

Applicants should expect to work campaign hours and have access to reliable transportation. Specific responsibilities of the Press Secretary include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing the earned media strategy and managing the daily, weekly and long term earned media priorities
  • Engaging with reporters and speaking on the record on behalf of the campaign
  • Preparing coalition spokespeople to speak to the media
  • Developing stories for media coverage
  • Recruiting media to cover campaign events
  • Responding to press inquiries
  • Writing media documents and participating in the overall communications program
  • Building and expanding relationships with key media outlets and reporters
  • Representing the campaign at community events

Position Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in all listed skills is not required, but definitely preferred:
  • Campaign communications experience
  • Earned media experience, especially going on the record
  • Social media management experience
  • Strong time-management skills and work ethic
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and accomplish goals as set forth by the campaign
  • Experience working in a campaign atmosphere
  • Commitment to working long and irregular hours (including evenings and weekends) as needed

Salary and Benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include health care.
