Finance Coordinator

Based in Portland, OR

Oregon Federation of Nurses and Healthcare Professionals (OFNHP) Local 5017 represents 5500 nurses and healthcare professionals in Oregon and Washington.  OFNHP is an affiliate of the Nurses and Health Professionals division of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

The Finance Coordinator manages the day-to-day accounting tasks for OFNHP. This includes accounts payable entry, accounts receivable, invoicing, monthly bank and investment reconciliations, purchase orders, and recording credit card transactions. The Finance Coordinator is also responsible for aspects of human resources management and participates in collective bargaining as a member of the management negotiation team. This person will maintain accurate accounting files and will assist in assuring compliance with all policies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Produce bi-monthly payroll with liability reporting
  • Conduct weekly accounts payable functions
  • Accounts receivable invoicing and entry of deposits
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and issue financial statements
  • Work with Budget Committee and Director to prepare annual budget
  • Report to Budget Committee
  • Prepare audit documents with fiscal closing entries and schedules for annual CPA firm audit, yearly tax filings, LM-2 reporting and fair share audit
  • Maintain accounts payable files, bank statement files, and other financial record keeping
  • Maintain audit preparation files year-round to facilitate the audit requirements
  • Manage pension, benefits, and employee leave accounting, including the preparation of costing out proposals for bargaining
  • Maintain employee personnel files

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field or 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role
  • Union or non-profit experience preferred
  • QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, and other functions are necessary
  • Ideal candidate would be energetic, collaborative, and self-motivated
