Digital Marketing and Campaign Specialist
Communications Department

This position is responsible for developing innovative digital marketing plans and campaigns, with the ability help bring the latest digital strategies to bear in smart and effective ways on our priority organizing and member campaigns. Incumbent will work closely with campaign communications leads and in collaboration with digital, graphics, video, data and editorial staff. Incumbent will create digital campaigns that build first party data and create a ladder of engagement to foster online growth that builds connection and commitment to the union.

Duties:

  • Works collaboratively with communications leads on the integration of online strategy to advance campaign goals, helping develop strategic plans and providing tactical support.
  • Conceptualizes, develops and helps execute paid social, display/retargeting, mobile, video SEM, as well as email, social and text engagement strategies.
  • Helps identify and leverage opportunities for online engagement throughout the campaign. Assists campaign leads in setting clear and measurable goals and KPIs for campaigns. Reviews campaign digital performance and create performance reports analyzing digital strategy effectiveness, and work with key stakeholders and cross-unit staff to adjust strategy as needed.
  • Helps coordinate with graphics, video, digital, staff as needed to develop creative assets and landing pages that will work best on each channel, and provide feedback and ongoing optimization of those assets based on ongoing testing and findings.
  • Uses audience analytics and social listening to inform content and paid social recommendations. Assists affiliates in paid advertising campaigns through capacity-building support.
  • Engages regularly with field communications staff to share best practices, lessons learned and increase capacity of campaign and affiliate staff.
  • Stays up-to-date with paid marketing trends, organic engagement best practices, and potential new channels and strategies in paid search, display, social marketing, and programmatic media buying.
  • Performs other related duties to support departmental objectives, including convention and institutional publication duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with course work in communications, politics, marketing or digital media.
  • Three to five years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience, in online organizing; digital media buying; strategic communications; and issue, political or labor organizing; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills Requirements:

  • Track record of successfully developing and deploying digital engagement campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Experience developing and optimizing digital advertising campaigns.
  • Experience with A/B test design, execution and analysis. Ability to operate on both a strategic and tactical level, touching all aspects of our organic and paid digital efforts, including keyword management, creation of campaign messaging, bidding strategies, creative testing, analysis and analytics.
  • Familiarity with the online advertising landscape, including in daily management of paid campaigns on SEM platforms such as AdWords, Facebook, DoubleClick, etc.
  • Experience with CMS tools, web site and landing page development, google analytics, testing and optimization. Basic understanding of SQL database structure and queries, as well as HTML a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure, manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, pay close attention to detail, take initiative and look for opportunities, stay organized and follow through.
  • Ability to maintain a strong working relationship with staff across the internal campaigns teams, as well and other departments.
