POSITION TITLE: Temporary Political Digital Organizer
DATE: January 3, 2018
DEPARTMENT: Unit 2 Field Staff
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Governmental and Community Relations
AVAILABLE: January 15, 2018 – November 15, 2018

Works to promote and achieve the goals of the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) by engaging and mobilizing nurses via digital and social media platforms to become active in the electoral and policy arenas. The Temporary Political Digital Organizer will work with a team to implement and evaluate the electoral initiatives of MNA in order to further the goals of nurses at the local, state, and federal levels. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing engaging content and developing strategies for online campaigns in email, social media, organizing toolkits, blog posts, website content, and more
  • Building an online base of support for campaign via social media tools and email list; working to move online relationships into offline activism
  • Drafting campaign emails, including maintaining a comprehensive email calendar
  • Managing and nurturing our social media communities, including responding to messages and moderating comments
  • Coordinating with our field team, backing them up with emails, web page content and digital strategy
  • Analyzing the results of your work, and reporting on successes and failures
  • Implementing political grassroots action plans, including phone, door-to-door, and earned media campaigns
  • Working with members and other labor and coalition partners to implement campaign plans and strategies to support MNA’s organizational goals and priorities
  • Recruiting new member volunteers for electoral activity via rounding in facilities, attending MNA activities and calling members
  • Working with field staff to identify potential new member volunteers for electoral activity
  • Tracking and reporting on electoral goals
  • Assisting in the building and training of a network of political activists
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with quick turnaround, as well as work in a fluid environment
  • Other duties as assigned

The position may include long and irregular hours, including weekends and evenings. Travel is required, including overnight stays.


Education: Bachelor Degree or comparable experience is preferred.

Experience: Experience in digital organizing in an advocacy or campaign environment; knowledge of labor unions; knowledge of health care and nursing preferable; understanding of political processes; skills in organizing in political settings; knowledge of and experience working with Minnesota campaign finance law; demonstrated ability to implement successful digital tactics, preferably in an electoral environment; good verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, and build strong working relationships and hold others accountable.
