Community Healthcare Manager

The 1199SEIU Training & Employment Funds provide education and job training programs for over 40,000 unionized workers represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. Our mission is to develop high quality training, placement and labor-management initiatives. We also aim to develop the ability of union and management to problem-solve difficult issues and to create innovative healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level management, strategic direction and external relations with key leadership of the Bronx Healthcare Learning Collaborativ
  • Collaborate with CEOs, union officers, College Presidents and others to create system changes which advance project objectives
  • Develop relationships with and support from political leaders, current and potential funders and local and national media
  • Increase number of employer partners, including but not limited to Health and Hospital Corporation facilities and federally qualified health center
  • Develop agendas and insure participation at advisory committee meetings
  • Partner with TEF leadership and staff to monitor and insure success of outreach, case management and educational programs/new education initiatives
  • Promote collaborative programs to employers, the union and the community--including new CUNY initiatives and innovative work-based training programs
  • Design and implement continuous improvement mechanisms
  • Oversee budget and lead fundraising efforts; ensure project adheres to TEF administrative and finance protocols
  • Coordinate with Executive Office all aspects of the project, including outreach, program development and program implementation
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Labor Studies, Public Health or similar fields of study or equivalent years if experience required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in community, labor, organizational development, external affairs, or healthcare environment required
  • Knowledge of healthcare workforce career path development preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish fluency) required
  • Must have experience influencing and motivating high level stakeholders, including CEOs, union executives, policy makers, community leaders and funders
  • Strong knowledge of the Bronx Community
  • Extensive understanding of organizational relational dynamics or external affairs management
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines; must be detail oriented
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and presentation skills required; able to foster good working relationship with staff, management and stakeholders
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
