JOB SUMMARY:
This position is under the direction and supervision of the SVP of Labor Market Development. The PT Administrative Assistant will also be supporting business development positions as assigned and will receive direction on job functions. This position provides receptionist and office administrative support for the Bank of Labor, Washington DC office and other banking duties as assigned. Duties include, but not limited to greeting customers, answering incoming calls, obtain supplies, coordinate mailings and work on special projects. A professional image, personable demeanor, and positive attitude, with attention to detail are required. The employee’s work influences the professional image of the Bank of Labor, within the community it serves.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
  • Articulate, personable and have excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High School Degree or equivalent is required.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  • Problem solver with good judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines.
  • Experience in an administrative position is helpful, but not required.
  • Experience with and commitment to the labor movement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / EXPECTATIONS:

  • Job Performance Behaviors: Contributing to organization success, job effectiveness, relationships and customer satisfaction.
  • Administrative Assistant functions to assist SVP of Labor Market Development: composing letters, memorandums & reports, proofreads & edits documents, answers phone & take messages, schedule appointments, and distribute mail, other duties as assigned by the SVP.
  • Recordkeeping: Assist in maintaining electronic filing system, etc.
  • Banking - Customer Service/Research/Concierge functions: respond to email inquiries, build relationships by greeting guest, assisting them with or referring them to others for product sales, introducing them to the Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) and Kiosk. Research for business development and other banking duties as assigned.
  • Mailing, scanning, faxing, and copying
  • Run errands to supply store, post office, etc.
  • Place service call for office equipment
  • Order/distribute/keeps inventory of supplies
  • Assists with replenishing supplies of amenities and maintaining cleanliness of the office
  • Open,/sort/distribute incoming correspondence
