Executive Assistant to the President/
Director of Lincoln Center and Theatre Activities

Local 802, AFM, one of the largest local unions of professional musicians in the country, represents musicians working in a variety of settings across New York City, upstate New York, and Connecticut, including on Broadway, at the Metropolitan Opera, Radio City Music Hall, and the New York Philharmonic.

We have an opening for the Executive Assistant to the President / Director of the Lincoln Center and Theater Activities. The position is based in New York City.

Reporting directly to the President of the Union, the Executive Assistant to the President will assist the President in the general management and supervision of the Union. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting in implementing the short and long term priorities of the Union.
  • Overseeing professional and clerical staff in the Theater Department.
  • Providing advice and guidance to the President.
  • Performing such other duties as directed by the President.

In the Theater Department, the Director will, in close conjunction with the President, serve as the primary liaison to the four major classical orchestras (Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic, New York City Ballet, and New York City Opera). Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing all aspects of the orchestras’ major contract negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations.
  • Administering all aspects of the Theater Department, including but not limited to supervision its staff and providing guidance and advice on various collective bargaining agreements (Broadway, Commercial and Not-for-Profit Off-Broadway, Developmental Theatre projects, and theatre festivals).

This is a full-time (at-will) position. Salary depends on experience. Benefits include pension, health insurance, sick leave, personal days and vacation.
