Temporary Campaign Field Organizer

Job Description:
We are expanding our outreach program and are hiring, for immediate placement, a Field Organizer. You will assist in creating and implementing a vision for organizing efforts that build our power for the long-term while winning short-term electoral victories.

You will be responsible for maintaining positive affiliate relations, managing and motivating volunteers, implementing volunteer recruitment strategies, volunteer trainings, as well as monitoring outreach goals and program projections.

We are a highly collaborative organization. You will be working with leaders from a variety of local unions, and partner organizations. Together, we will create a Colorado that works for working people.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment: Engage our existing base of activists as well as first-time volunteers. Build a team of 25-50 volunteer canvassers by recruiting from within our local affiliate unions.
  • Volunteer Management: Train and support volunteer leaders and in the skills necessary for their various roles; help plan and run trainings that will grow our base and improve our impact. Coordinate communication with volunteers on local issues and ‘Labor 2017’ activities. Cultivate a welcoming and motivating atmosphere.
  • Outreach: Canvass in the field for four days per week. Train new and experienced volunteers in the field and meet member contact and voter ID goals.
  • Administration: Carefully track campaign metrics and progress to goals.

Qualifications:
You must be passionate about labor organizing and movement building and has a track record of accomplishment. You must have at least two years of organizing experience, including electoral organizing, community organizing, union organizing, campaign coordination, or coalition building.

Strong communication and motivational skills, work ethic, and desire for political change are essential. You must be able to work within a team, have proven leadership ability and experience handling a lot of responsibility. Strong self-direction and the ability to take initiative are also necessary qualifications.

Requirements

  • Proficient in VAN: Able to create lists, scripts, virtual phone banks, walk-packets and manage volunteer profiles, etc.
  • Voter ID Experience: Canvassing and Phone Banking
  • Demonstrated success in volunteer recruitment
  • Proficient in the use of Google Docs and Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in LAN
  • Previous union organizing experience
  • Familiarity with the Colorado Labor Movement and key leaders

Expectations:
Campaign hours can run up to 50 hours per week, including work on weekends, as needed to get the job done. The Campaign Field Manager will report to the Political Director.

Salary/Benefits:
The salary is $800.00 per week. In addition, the Field Organizer will receive $250 per month car allowance and $90 per month cell-phone allowance.

Timing and Location:
Based in the Denver metro area, the position is available immediately and will run through November 10th, 2017 (Approximately 11 weeks).
