Field Organizer

Based in Austin, TX

The Texas AFL-CIO is hiring for the role of Field Organizer. Duties will include:

  • interacting with regional AFL-CIO bodies to grow capacity & implement best practices in campaigns, organizing, member mobilization, and
  • working with AFL-CIO Lead Organizer and Campaigns Director in support of affiliate and Central Body worksite mobilization and voter registration programs, and
  • working with AFL-CIO Lead Organizer and Campaigns Director in support of statewide member leadership development and training programs, and
  • acting as a canvass director for district paid and volunteer canvasses, and
  • organizing general public & union member field events, including town hall meetings, community forums, trainings, etc.

Qualified applicants should:

  • have a minimum of 2-5 years experience of union organizing, community organizing, political field organizing; or legislative experience, and
  • have at least one electoral cycle’s experience using the Labor Action Network or Voter Activation Network, and
  • have a personal commitment to changing the future of Texas by developing a movement to deliver economic opportunities for workers, immigrants, and historically marginalized communities.

The position is based in Austin; travel will be required.
