Secretary IV

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) is seeking an administrative secretary ("Secretary IV") at our DC Headquarters, located a stone’s throw from the U.S. Capitol Building. This position will be responsible for all aspects of administrative support, including phones, electronic and paper correspondence (including editing), filing, mail, and data entry. This position supports and reports to one of our Resident National Officers.

Qualifications:

  • A hands-on administrator with integrity, and a strong desire to work in a stable, union work environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word (including Mail Merge), Excel, and willingness to learn new software as needed
  • Administrative skills, including keyboarding and writing / grammatical skills
  • Ability to type 30 wpm
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
  • Detail-oriented and accurate
  • Good copy editing / proofing skills
  • Good alpha & numeric filing skills and letter formatting
  • The ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Schedule: Regularly 35 hours per week: Monday – Friday, 9 am – 4:30 pm
