Summary: SEIU 775 is the long-term care workers union, representing 43,000 home care and nursing home workers. We are a leader in the progressive community and take bold and aggressive approaches to politics and organizing. Our daily work is designed to unite workers, and especially long-term care workers, and to hold politicians accountable for quality care and quality jobs.

The Graphic Design Specialist will help to develop and design material that further goals of SEIU 775: lifting caregivers out of poverty, transforming health and long-term care, building strong and sustainable worker organizations, reducing inequality and increasing prosperity for all working people, and fighting for social justice. This person will play a key role in creatively helping us tell our story of to the broader world and build the movement for economic, racial, and social justice. SEIU 775 would like to expand our ability to communicate our story effectively and the Graphic Design Specialist is key to this expansion.

Principal duties and responsibilities include:

  • Use designs skills to communicate the union’s story and actions to home care, nursing home, and other low-wage workers across Washington and Montana, and to elected officials, media, and the public at large
  • Collaborating directly with the communications and marketing team to support all messaging and materials
  • Bringing ideas to life in a visually compelling and on-brand way to build and support all SEIU 775 projects
  • Designing production-ready multiplatform materials such as: brochures, posters, invitations, designing PowerPoint presentations, event materials, and digital assets for web, email and social media

Required Job Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. in graphic design, art or related field or equivalent academic/work experience required
  • 1-3 years’ work experience as a designer
  • Expertise in software including: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of WordPress
  • Experience working with defined branded guidelines
  • Comfortability designing for print and digital
  • Positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a constantly evolving environment
  • High level of enthusiasm, creativity, and initiative - a desire to beat your own best
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to getting work done
  • Initiates and participates in effective communication across the team and the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing and communications skills
  • Desire to collaborate cross-functionally

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a communications-related field.
  • Project management experience is a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds/cultures, ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • Keep accurate written and digital records of contacts and assessments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Computer literacy and a willingness and ability to learn the organization’s technology tools
  • Strong personal planning, motivation, and time management skills and ability to work with people from other cultures and backgrounds are necessary skills
  • The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment are considered key components to achieving organizer performance standards
  • Willingness to work long, irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Manages multiple projects efficiently to meet deadlines and goals
  • Act as a brand expert and holds brand standards high across all projects
  • Proactively communicate about project status, overall workload, and deadlines

Compensation: Staff union pay scale ranges from $54,500 to $72,600, based on experience.
