The incumbent serves at the Network / Systems Administrator and high-level helpdesk technician working directly with the IS Manager. Responsible for management, operation, security and maintenance of an enterprise voice, data, desktop, server and network infrastructure. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Linux, Windows, VMWare, and experience with networking are required for this position.


  • Troubleshoots entry level to advanced system-level problems involving laptops, workstations, servers and applications
  • Act as on-call Administrator for technology resources and provides after hours support as required
  • Clearly communicate the scope of issues or projects and provide estimates for completion.
  • Consult with users to determine hardware, software and/or system functional specifications
  • Demonstrated experience with network routing, switching, and firewall systems to view network device configurations, analyze log files, troubleshoot encryption tunnels, and make recommendations for improving routing methods.
  • Ability to recommend and or write SQL, VB, or other scripts
  • Ability to use systems analysis and techniques to recommend enhancement and modifications of systems procedures
  • Ability to handle stress and organize multiple projects with competing interests for time
  • Proactively informs management of potential problems and identifies problem trends
  • Monitors and tunes the system to ensure optimum performance.
  • Recommends enhancements and modifications to systems and procedures to improve service provided
  • Maintains all network, desktop, server, VOIP, UPS, WIFI, cellular, and peripheral hardware
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation and training materials for educating end users and staff
  • Assist with training others on the team on practices, procedures, and technical aspects of the job
  • Maintains working knowledge of industry and technology advancements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with three (3) to five (5) year of work experience required. Also, three (3) to five (5) years of client server experience. Computer literacy required. Union experienced preferred.

Prefer candidates to have at least one of the following certifications: N+, MCSE, CCNA, RHCE or VCP; and/or a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Lifting of boxes may be required in the course of organizing and distributing work in the office.

Use of the computer for approximately 80% of the day. Thirty-five (35) hours will constitute the regular work week. The working hours will be seven (7) with one hour for lunch per day. Flex start time window applicable (7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). However, flex window hours are subject to change to assigned start time(s) based on departmental needs. Dress code is business professional. Work may require occasional travel. Additionally, some weekend and evening work required.
