Digital Organizer
Fast Food Justice

Fast Food Justice, a first of its kind non-profit organization dedicated to a fast food worker and community social justice movement, is launching operations throughout NYC. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced digital organizer to join our campaign and help build our organization.

Position Summary:
Fast Food Justice is seeking a skilled Digital Organizer to develop FFJ’s overall digital strategies for finding, recruiting and engaging workers online, for building relationships with workers at scale and for using digital communications for membership-drive and other campaigns. The Digital Organizer will work with FFJ’s field teams, and will also interface with the communications organizer as the person responsible for overall digital communications to FFJ’s base as well as the general public. The Digital Organizer will report to the Executive Director of FFJ.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop overall digital strategies and content for member recruitment and engagement, including email, mobile, social media, and web
  • With the communications and field teams, play a lead role in evaluating and improving overall worker and community communications frames and messaging
  • Build and maintain social media audience (workers, community allies, donors, general public), through compelling content
  • Work with field team to develop & implement best practices to engage workers via mobile messaging apps
  • Understand and apply data driven decision making to our membership online presence, including analysis, reporting, and targeting
  • Ensure smooth coordination between digital, communications and field teams.
  • Production of some non-digital print materials for member/worker/community communications: flyers, education materials etc.

Requirements include:

  • 3+ years’ experience in digital strategy/organizing for a social justice organization
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing digital campaigns, the building of a member social audience, maintaining email engagement program and the application of data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with digital strategies for engaging communities with limited access to technology
  • Experience with audience development and developing digital content with an eye for growth
  • Training and leadership development skills, especially for people with limited digital/technical experience
  • Experience coordinating projects that involve field organizers, communications organizer, and workers and community advocacy.
  • Experience working with designers and developers, especially communicating needs from non-digital practitioners and managing deadlines
  • Strong writing and editing skills, especially in writing for the internet
  • Basic graphic design skills for digital and print
  • Basic video editing skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Commitment to building a movement of fast-food workers

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in developing digital communications messaging frameworks
  • Basic html
  • Experience with paid digital strategies, particularly managing digital vendors, a plus
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign Premiere)
  • Spanish language proficiency
