The Pikes Peak Education Association is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of full-time UniServ Director.

Closing Date: Applications must arrive in the Pikes Peak Education Association office by July 18, 2017. Interviews for final candidates are tentatively scheduled to be held during the week of July 24, 2017. Projected date of employment on or about September 1, 2017.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities for this position are membership recruitment/ retention and handling employee rights cases. Other responsibilities include: providing training, support, and intervention to locals; organizing around a specific issue; political action; and bargaining.

Unit Description:
The Pikes Peak Education Association office is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a community of approximately 750,000. This local option UniServ unit encompasses the Pikes Peak region. It includes the counties of El Paso (excluding District #11), Teller, and Fremont. The office staff includes two UniServ Directors one full-time Administrative Assistant and one part-time Administrative Assistant.

The Unit is located in the second largest city in the state and sits near the foot of the beautiful Pikes Peak. Boasting 300 days of blue skies and abundant sunshine, the area is full of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Locals take advantage of the many hiking and biking trails and parks all year long. Some of the best skiing and boarding in the country are found just two-hours away. The Springs and neighboring Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs offer many wonderful local restaurants, museums, shopping and so much more. You won’t have to go far to find everything you need to make your life full.
The variety of locals represented challenges a wide range of the UniServ Director’s programmatic and organizing skills. The unit consists of 22 diverse locals, including ESP and teachers, one state deaf and blind school, and one community college. The current membership is approximately 1,450 and the potential for membership is approximately 10,500+.

The position involves considerable travel time and the utilization of a professional calendar.

Supervisory Authority:
The Director will be under the direct supervision of the Unit Chairperson, the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. The experienced Associate Staff will provide support.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:
Salary is contingent upon placement on the negotiated salary schedule between the Unit and the Union ($62,582 to $107,037). Benefits outlined in the Master Agreement include a health insurance stipend, retirement contribution, car allowance and expense reimbursement.
