Senior Campaign Organizer

Based in the SF Bay Area, CA

The UAW seeks a Senior Organizer to play a lead role in new organizing on the West Coast. This person will be part of a diverse and dynamic team that designs and implements campaign strategies to help workers who are coming together to exercise their right to form a union. This position will work closely with workers, field organizers, research and policy staff, allies and community partners to advance social, racial and economic justice.

Principal duties and responsibilities include:

  • Plan and implement significant aspects of major campaign(s), in partnership with workers, allies, organizers, and other local and international union staff.
  • Identify, support, engage, and develop worker leaders at every opportunity.
  • Maintain constant communication with other team members and the flexibility to support a range of campaign activities in a complex and fast-moving environment.

Preferred job qualifications include:

  • Significant campaign experience (ideally in new organizing efforts), and a track record of success
  • Ability to work creatively and strategically with member leaders and staff to develop and implement campaign strategies
  • Strong skills in motivating and inspiring staff and workers
  • Commitment to economic, racial, and social justice for all people
  • Ability to create, cultivate, and manage relationships with allies, partners, and/or elected officials as needed
  • Fast learner with ability to understand, locate, and navigate strategic opportunities within complex issue and policy arenas
  • Willingness to work often irregular campaign hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as needed
  • Strong personal planning, motivation, and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment, as well as to work well on a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • A strong commitment to leadership development and directly involving members and working people in all aspects of this work.
