Working Washington's mission is to build a powerful workers’ movement that can dramatically improve wages and working conditions, and change the local and national conversation about wealth, inequality, and the value of work. Working Washington fast food strikers sparked the fight that won Seattle’s landmark $15 minimum wage. We successfully drove Amazon to sever ties with the right-wing lobby group ALEC and improve conditions in their sweatshop warehouses. We helped lead the winning campaign in SeaTac for a $15 living wage. And just last year we passed the nation’s strongest secure scheduling law in Seattle, and helped raise the minimum wage across the whole state.

Working Washington and an emerging coalition of organizations seek to pass a series of policies to ensure that domestic workers - those who care for our homes, our children, people with disabilities, and the elderly - are given the respect, dignity, and protection they deserve as equal members of our city’s and state's workforce.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Campaign Manager is responsible for developing and executing the campaign to pass new policies in Seattle and possibly other locations in Washington State, including coordinating and strengthening the coalition, ensuring worker leadership and engagement in the campaign, and building new alliances and support for the campaign.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Principal duties and responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the coalition
  • Coordinate activities between field, policy, and communications staff from coalition organizations
  • Drive field efforts to build an organizing committee and base of worker activists
  • Develop and lead plans to build support from ally organizations and other stakeholders
  • Develop and implement campaign plans as needed for the campaign
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings with city council members and other decision-makers
  • Coordinate events, such as forums or actions
  • Perform other duties and campaign work as assigned. Participate directly in the political and organizing work of Working Washington, including door-knocking, get-out-the-vote, signature gathering, and other campaign activities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of campaign development and organizing experience
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in writing and implementing and managing strategic policy campaign plans
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
  • Computer proficiency is required, including database/spreadsheet, email, internet, word processing, and social networking skills
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates preferred

COMPENSATION:
Staff union pay scale, based on experience. Generous benefits package, including fully-paid family health care, employer matched 401k, and vacation and sick leave.
