Human Resources Coordinator

Based in Los Angeles, CA

The Human Resources (H.R.) Coordinator functions as a Generalist and is responsible for various projects and duties within the H.R. Department. The Coordinator works under the supervision of the H.R. Director. The Coordinator is responsible for consulting with managers regarding employee absenteeism, changes in work settings, benefits, maintains databases for employees, program schedules and confidential company data, and works closely in assistance to the Human Resources Director.

Must have prior experience as an HR Administrator/Generalist and must have basic knowledge of the primary components of HR (FMLA, LOA, Benefits, Onboard Hiring Process, minimally).


  • Effective Employee Management of personnel files & records, hire letters, new hire onboarding – ensure all hiring docs are current, accurate, and valid.
  • Orientation - Plan monthly new hire orientations, ensure new hires are advised, reserve conference rooms, pre-order meals, pre-set up of all materials in advance of the orientation. Facilitate and stay engaged during orientation.
  • Accurately & Timely input to our interactive HRIS System; interface with Finance and I.T Departments for all hires and staff changes
  • Administer all benefit plans and benefit billing, including tracking of COBRA, FMLA, PDLA, and Workers’ Comp.
  • Benefits – must understand benefit plans, work closely with others to ensure employees benefit elections are input accurately and timely, work with Agents using open and effective communication regarding benefit inquiries/concerns
  • Administer Wage & EDD Claims, ability to Audit Invoices and ensure billings are up-to-date, reconciled, and accurate prior to submitting for processing
  • Knowledge, understanding, and aptitude for the Termination/ Separation process, ensures all steps are properly administered using checks and balances and with minimal supervision or guidance required.
  • Employee Records – must ensure all employee records are properly uploaded and in correct folders, accurate, readable, etc.
  • Payroll Submissions – must timely inform Payroll of Leave Status, Pay Options/Requests, and communicate clearly with other departments
  • Assist with daily operations of the H.R. Office including maintenance of employee files and filing electronic data, logistics, room schedules, processing disciplinary paperwork, memos and emails.
  • Assist with recruitment and staffing logistics, including preparation of new employee packets, job postings and temporary staffing.
  • Assist Director of H.R. in enforcing company policies and educating employees regarding policies.
  • Compliance - ensure workplace safety and company poster compliance are ordered timely before expiration, and posted at all facilities
  • Ability to develop relationships with diverse group of staff and managers.
  • Perform a high level of organizational skills, able to multitask and work well under pressure with a positive attitude.
  • Other duties as required


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college; or Associates degree with a minimal of 3 years hands on experience; or 5 years hands on experience
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Keep a high quality level of confidentiality
  • Travel with H.R. Director when necessary to other location on H.R. issues
  • Higher level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Must be timely, focused on details, responsive, and take initiative. Coordinator is in a highly visible role and must safeguard against gossip and show Ethics & Integrity in all aspects of work
  • Must advise HR Director of any personnel matters that might affect the Organization or its Staff timely.
  • Ability to work either independently or in team environment. Able to take ownership and responsibility of work and work results
  • Fluency in a second language is desirable but not required

Physical Requirements:
Work is generally performed in the office. Long and irregular hours required. Some travel required.

Scope and Nature of Supervision:
The HR Coordinator reports directly to the HR Director.
