Part-Time Dispatcher

Based in Seattle, WA

 

Local  No. 15 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), representing stagehands in Western Washington, is seeking to hire a part-time Dispatcher.  Our Dispatchers fill labor requests and make job assignments.  We are seeking quick-thinking candidates with strong people skills as well as computer skills.  Our Dispatchers deal directly with our members and permit holders, and must be able to deal in a professional and impartial manner with all types of people.

Dispatch is at times a fast-paced environment.  Our Dispatchers must be have strong attention to detail and be able to remain calm in sometimes high-stress situations.  Work is generally done from our offices in the Seattle Labor Temple in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood but may also be done from home.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of  administrative and clerical procedures such as working with Excel spreadsheets, managing files and records
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • The ability to speak clearly so that others will understand
  • Strong active listening skills
  • Exceptional customer service and team orientation

The starting hourly rate is $22.99 including benefits. After 6 months, the hourly wage increases to $25.06. Work schedule is seasonal and dependent on the volume of work orders.  Must be available weekends and evenings.

High School diploma or equivalent required.  Previous dispatching and/or theatre background is a plus, but not required. Background checks required to complete hiring.

Dispatchers are represented by the Communications Workers of America.
