Part-time Bookkeeper

United Educators of San Francisco, a union of 6200 teachers and paraprofessionals in San Francisco, seeks a qualified, experienced individual to fill the position of a part-time bookkeeper. This is currently a 25-hour/week position, with a possibility of 30 hours/week for the first 3 months.

UESF has a staff of 15 fulltime and 11 part time employees, many of whom work 10-40 hours per month.

The bookkeeper must have an Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent experience, as well as knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.

Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), Local 29/Legacy 3 represents office staff at UESF.

Job responsibilities and skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing incoming checks and cash
  • Ability to use QuickBooks and Microsoft Office programs
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Good organizational skills and punctuality
  • Ability to create and maintain record-keeping and filing systems
  • Use a range of office equipment
  • Maintain accounts receivable and payable for UESF general fund and accompanying files   
  • Maintain accounts receivable and payable for UESF Committee on Political Education (COPE) accounts
  • Maintain Credit Union and bank accounts, including monthly account reconciliation
  • Supervision of agency fee (Hudson) notices
  • Record-keeping and tracking of all voluntary deductions  (AFT COPE, NEA PAC and CTA FACT, among others)
  • Bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing
  • Recording and tracking of vacation and sick leave of UESF personnel
  • Assist with recording and tracking of staff agency fee activity sheets
  • Assist in end-of-year scholarship program
  • Create and maintain per capita worksheets and records of payments
  • Monthly reports for Executive Board and Treasurer (general fund and COPE)
  • Quarterly reports for UESF Budget Committee
  • Maintain accounts for NEA and AFT grant funds
  • Assisting consultant with FPPC reporting on COPE accounts

Salary range: $32.80- $37.41, depending on experience. Generous benefits package.
